BEng(Hons) Aircraft Engineering 'top-up'Successful students from the Newcastle Aviation Academy’s Foundation Degree & EASA Pt 66 Course in Aircraft Engineering have the option to progress to the BEng(Hons) Aircraft Engineering 'top-up'. This course gives you professional engineer status and also covers the knowledge requirements for the EASA Pt 66 C-licence - which authorises engineers to release aircraft for flight after full base maintenance. Many practicing engineers use this route to gain professional status, membership of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and an honours degree. The programme is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society, and takes either one year (full-time) or two years (part-time). The part-time option allows students to work as engineers and gain practical experience at the same time. The BEng(Hons) Aircraft Engineering 'top-up' is taught at Kingston University, a member of the NAA Consortium, which set up the Foundation Degree in Aircraft Engineering. The University has an excellent reputation in aeronautical engineering: the Quality Assurance Agency awarded its courses a maximum 24 points in its independent subject review. The course modules are designed to both deepen and broaden your knowledge of aircraft systems and equipment. You will continue your specialisation in aircraft engineering but concentrate on aspects of maintenance management, control and quality. Course structureThe full-time course is completed in four one-week intensive modules and two work-based projects. Course content• Aircraft technology and materials Entry requirements
