BTEC National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (Mechanical)This course is ideal if you’d like a career in mechanical aircraft maintenance. You will study the structure, systems and engines of aircraft, and your diploma will bring you career opportunities in airlines, aircraft maintenance organisations and the armed forces. You can also progress to a higher education course such as the Foundation Degree in Aircraft Engineering, which can lead to a JAR-66 licence and professional engineer status. The course is offered over two years full-time, or three years part-time. Course content • Business systems for technicians The content covers the structure, systems and engines of the aircraft. You will learn through formal lectures, classroom activity, laboratory work and student-devised workbooks. Assessment is through a combination of assignments, tests and classroom work. Many of the practical elements of the course will be conducted at the Newcastle Aviation Academy at Newcastle Airport. Entry requirementsYou should have at least one of the following:
