Student life in Newcastle

Studying at Newcastle Aviation Academy means living in one of the UK’s most vibrant and student-friendly cities. With a student population of around 40,000, and a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere, the capital of the North East offers something for everyone.

Nightlife and entertainment

Newcastle was recently voted eighth top city in the world for nightlife, and there are bars, restaurants and clubs galore, from the Quayside to the backstreets. During the day you can take advantage of the huge variety of shops, and great leisure developments such as the Gate and the enormous Metro centre.

City of culture

The city’s regeneration over recent years has brought the area greater prosperity and prominence in the arts. Highlights include the ‘winking eye’ Millennium Bridge, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts and the famous Angel of the North – Britain’s largest public sculpture.

Sport

While still best-known for Newcastle United, the city also boasts first-class rugby union, basketball and ice hockey teams, and regular international athletics competitions at Gateshead International Stadium.

Transport

Transport links are excellent, with a metro, good train and coach connections, and, of course, an international airport.
