Newcastle Aviation Academy – site and facilities

Teaching takes place in a newly refurbished hangar at Newcastle Airport, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, workshops and classrooms, and a functional Boeing 737 aircraft.

The combination of hands-on, practical training at a busy regional airport with use of the latest equipment and academic facilities gives you an outstanding training in aircraft engineering.

  • Our Boeing 737 is fully functional and has all the systems – navigation, communication, electrical and hydraulic – you would expect on a modern aircraft. You will carry out standard repairs on the flying controls, engine, power supply, air conditioning and landing gear.

  • Our workshops are kitted out with the very latest equipment, designed for the study of specific aspects of aircraft engineering. These include hydraulics, landing gear, pneumatics, structural repair, electrics and electronics workshops.

  • Our IT Suite is equipped with modern CBT training equipment for the Electrical and Electronic practical training. These computers also allow students access to the Internet for research.
  • The Academy also has a small library of technical publications and aircraft manuals to aid students with revision and research.

Newcastle College

Students will have access to Newcastle College library facilities for research. A range of access courses are also taught at Newcastle College.
